Hannah’s Treasure Chest enriches the lives of children in need.
While many families are fortunate enough to provide for their babies, toddlers and children, many parents struggle in raising their children with sufficient resources. Hannah’s Treasure Chest responds to these needs by providing nonprofit and social service agencies in Butler, Greene, Montgomery, and Warren Counties with clothing, furniture, toys, books and other essential items for their clients. The assistance from Hannah’s Treasure Chest greatly enhances programs already provided to children in the Miami Valley.
Social service workers, family advocates, school counselors and church pastors first determine the needs of the family, then request items from Hannah’s Treasure Chest by submitting a family profile and needs request. Items requested include clothing, toys, books, bedding and baby/toddler equipment.
The completed request is picked up by the social worker, family advocate, etc. and is delivered directly to the child in need. In addition to daily request fulfillment, Hannah’s Treasure Chest also runs Beds for Babies and Blankets & Bears programs benefitting infants 18 months and younger. Our Brighter Smiles Dental Kit program provides age-appropriate toothbrush, toothpaste and floss or floss picks to children 2 years and older. Our Giving Angels program provides 4 holiday gifts per child to children up to 12 years of age.
Who We Serve
Care packages are provided to the clients of our partner agencies, who are typically families living at or below the poverty level in our local area. Providing these items allows families in need to redirect their limited resources for other essential items such as food, housing, transportation and education for themselves and their children.
Our programs benefit and complement the services provided by our partner agencies, freeing their staff members to focus on providing guidance and other needed care to the families.
Hannah’s Treasure Chest is supported by shared distribution fees from partner agencies based on usage by that agency. Additional funding comes from fundraising events during the year along with grants, monetary and in-kind donations, and inventory reduction sales. Grants and funding from foundations are a growing portion of our funding as well.
Hannah’s Treasure Chest depends on item and financial donations from individuals, organizations and local businesses and corporations. We gladly accept and appreciate donations of baby, toddler and children’s items from parents whose own children have grown out of them, provided they are in excellent condition.
